So this past weekend Nate and I were in San Francisco. Nate is now out there this week for work, so we thought it would be fun to have a quick weekend out there. I got there Friday night and met Nate at the airport. He had to get out there Thursday for a release or something. We stayed at the Marriott close to Union Square. It was a good place to stay - near all the shopping and lots of public transportation close by. By the time we got my bags, took the train to the hotel, checked in and freshened up it was kinda late. So we went to a sports bar right below the hotel and had some drinks and then called it a night.
The next morning we woke up at 7:30am. We were still on Atlanta time :) We went across the street to Mels Diner. It was a cute little diner with a decent breakfast. After that we started our day as tourists. All I can say is that we did a LOT of walking, all uphill it seemed. First we went down to the Wharf. We were not able to go to Alcatraz, have to buy those tickets prior to that day, next time we know! We were not to worried about it though since I am sure we will be back another time and will know this next time. Then we walked some more and got lunch at this yummy sourdough bakery place. I could eat sourdough all day! Then after that did some more walking. Then headed over to Ghiradelli (not sure how to spell that one!) and were disappointed to find out there wasn't any sort of tour or anything. I don't think that it makes the chocolate anymore, but maybe see where they once made the chocolate. Since I was sad there was no tour we treated ourselves to some sundaes. WOW. It has been years since I have had a sundae, but this one was worth the wait. But because of it, we did a lot more walking.
Later that night we met up with Karen and Zanoni and went to dinner at this restaurant in North Beach. It was good to see the 2 of them and catch up on everything thats been happening in our lives. After dinner we went to an Irish pub and had a few pints then headed back to the hotel.
All in all it was a fun trip, just way to quick! It will be nice next year when I have 3 weeks of vacation so for stuff like this I can take an extra day off.
