Photos from week 20

Nate finally got the scanner working on the new computer, so here are the pics from when we found out we were having a girl! The tech who was doing these was pretty good at pointing out what is what :-)

I like this one, she has her hands up in the air. Or not really air, more like up in amniotic fluid.
This one creeps me out, looks like an alien!
Here is the money shot... nothing between the legs = little girl

Another creepy alien looking shot.

Little feetsies!

And a profile shot.

Week 21

Another week gone by, another pound gained. On our weekly email it said that our little girl is about the length of a carrot now and about three-quarters of a pound. Friday night while i was laying on the couch I can officially say I felt my first little kicks. I've been fighting a head cold/sinus infection all week so I have been drinking a lot of OJ, which Friday night after dinner I had a big glass and then laid down. I guess all the sugars in the OJ got her going and I felt a few raps on my right side. All weekend now I have been feeling them, primarily when I am laying down. This morning I was laying in bed and felt her moving and told Nate to put his hand on my side. Of course she stopped then so he gave my stomach a couple nudges. She did not like that all all and gave us a big rap that Nate was even able to feel.

Today we also went and registered. Let me tell you, registering for a kid is nowhere as fun as registering for our wedding. You can't just pick stuff you like, you have to worry about if its had any recalls or how easy it is to fold up. A few items we had to go with 2 items we liked and now have to do some research at home and then delete them later. We did have our friends Karen and Ralph there with us who have a 6 month old and they were complete lifesavers, letting us know what we really need and what not to waste our time getting. Ralph had also done a lot of research when they were buying all the stuff for Sylvie, so he was very helpful in letting us know which strollers and car seats got good reviews. Our little girl's stuff will be very similar to what Sylvie already has since we trusted his research :-)

Also Friday night Nate made a big purchase. I had a moment of weakness or something and told him he could buy a new TV. We sold my old 32 inch that was down in the office on craigslist last weekend, so he bought a new one that we are going to put upstairs in the living room and then move that one down to Nate's office. He actually got a pretty good deal on it. All-in-all he got about $500 off the original price with the sale that Best Buy was having and then he found online that a different store was selling it for $300 cheaper, which Best Buy will match. Here he is with his new "baby".

Right now he has it hooked up down in the office and is playing video games on it, but as soon as we can get someone over here who can help him carry it up to the 2nd floor and then lift it up on the wall, we will be moving it up there.

But that is about it for now. I have a doctors appointment this Friday, but it's just my normal monthly one. I think I have to get a shot at this one since my blood is O-... boo!

Week 20 - the halfway point!

Thursday I hit the halfway mark of my pregnancy, so now only 20 weeks to go. So far this has been a pretty easy pregnancy, the "side effects" as I like to call them have been minimal and so far my weight gain has been on track. I have been told that my mom put on 50lbs with me. I am really going to try to keep my weight gain to around 30lbs, but we will see. Easier said than done, espically with the sweet tooth I have had so far.

So Thursday we had our appointment on the big sonogram machine. We "saw" lots of tree top that day, and we also got to find out who won the bet between me and Nate. Let me put it this way, I will be buying Nate a steak dinner at Outback :-) We are having a little girl. For about a day I was in shock, it wasn't that I didn't want a girl, I just didn't think it was possible for a Mansfield to produce a girl. For years I had just resigned myself to the fact that I would have a house full of boys. But now, Nate will be in a house full of girls. Dad, at some point you will need to talk to Nate on how to deal with not just a wife, but a daughter as well.

We also found out the same day that Matt and April Ledom are having a girl as well. Out of all the possible options of us having kids together, 2 girls was really the best case scenario for us and the Ledoms to remain friends in the future. At dinner Matt and Nate were already talking about going and buying guns to keep the boys away from their little girls.

We got some pretty good pictures of Tree Top and I will get them up here as soon as Nate scans them. We have also not figured out a name for our little girl, but there is one that both Nate and I like. As soon as we do figure it out, we can get rid of Tree Top and call her by her proper name.

Week 19 & Nate's Birthday!

Today is Nate's birthday - the big 31! We didn't really do anything for his birthday, but I did make him a homemade carrot cake (his favorite). Any by homemade, I mean hommade. I even shredded the carrots myself. Back when we were dating I used to make him a cake every year, but since we got married that has fallen by the wayside. But I figure now I got to start being more maternal and stuff, so making a birthday cake is a good way to start! Here he is with the cake.

So last weekend we went to Dallas to visit Bob and Jeannine. We had a very nice time, though it was a little to short in my opinion, but we all caught up. The boys went to Bob's fancy man salon and got their "hair did" and hands parrafin waxed. Since this was such a short trip Nate didn't want to check the baggage. This was going to be trouble for me, since 2001 when they made that sexist rule rule that all your toiletries have to fit in that tiny bag and be under 3oz, I have never carried on a bag. I use a lot of toiletries! Anyway, we went out and bought me some 3oz containers for my stuff and by some miracle I got it all to fit. I only went without 1 item for the weekend, which if I had 1 more 3oz container, it might have fit also. Check out this miracle!

So this week is *hopefully* the week we get to find out the sex. We have an appointment for Thursday morning on the big ultrasound machine. Hopefully TT will be facing the right way. But we will keep everyone posted! Just to say before we know, I think its a boy and Nate thinks its a girl. We have a bet on this one, who ever is wrong has to pay for dinner at Outback :-)
