Week 29

This week we (by "we" I really mean Nate) started the process of getting Emersen's room ready for her. First thing to do... PAINT, which is probably the most dreaded. After the Buckhead condo with its textured walls, we both hate painting with a passion. So for Nate to take on this room, even as small as it is, is a big deal. But Nate used his 2 days vacation and got it done! Last Sunday we went to Home Depot with Yvett (my color consultant :-) ) with the bumper on hand and stared a colors for what seems like hours. After going back and forth, we finally decided on sky blue. Here what the room looked like on Sunday...

I didn't get any pics of Nate painting as he did it all while I was at work, but here is what I came home to. I love the color personally, but I am pretty partial to anything blue. I think with the white furniture and yellow cushions on the glider it's going to look really good.

This week we also received our first gift off the registry from Nikki. She got us our travel system which is basically the infant car seat and stroller. Nate got it all put together the other night, now we just have to find somewhere to put it. Thank you aunt Nikki!

Yesterday we also picked up the crib and dresser, so Nate's chore today is to put the crib together and get some muscle over here to get the dresser up to the top floor. The room is starting to come together which helps me sleep better at night :-)
Other than that, not much else going on. Yesterday I did my part in helping out the economy and went summer clothes shopping. I still need a few more items, but what I have is a good start.
Also, on Friday Heather found out she is having a girl. So for anyone that is counting, all my friends are having girls, no boys. There must be something in the Atlanta water!

Two Preggos

Here is me and Erin. She is about 21 weeks along and I am at 28...

Week 28 - 12 to go

So this week we started our bi-weekly visits to the doctor. I am also starting to see the other doctors at the practice since there is no guarantee that my doctor will be in call when I go into labor. These bi-weekly appointments will go on for the next 2 months and then the last month I have to go weekly. At these appointments nothing to exciting happens, they just listen to Emersen's heartbeat, measure my belly and make sure I am feeling ok.

This week I also signed us up for our birthing class. We are not going until June 6th, but it's a Saturday class from 9-5 at the hospital. Not really sure why it takes that long, but I figure it would be nice to know where to go when I do go into labor since I have never even been in Piedmont hospital before.

Little Emmie seems to be doing good. She has her moments of activity, but for the most part is just kind of hanging out. I think she might be more active at night when I am sleeping because it seems when I wake up to go to the bathroom she is always kicking when I lay back down. Per my weekly email she is now up to 2 1/4 lbs and measures 14.8 inches.

This week I also finally had the carpet people out to clean the house and stretch the carpet in what will be the nursery to get the lump out of it. I used this company I found online and on kudzu.com they had received a lot of good ratings and they did not disappoint! The guy did a great job getting some Spencer spots out and also fixed a squeaky stair that our "wonderful" builders Pulte said was not fixable for no charge and also cleaned the babies room which I wasn't planning on cleaning since we never go in there free of charge. I will definitely be using them again!

But now with the carpet fixed, tomorrow my friend Yvett and I are going to go pick out the color for the walls. I am still leaning toward a pale yellow, but we will see. I am pretty open to any color except pink. Just because I am having a girl does not mean the room HAS to be pink. Plus I am thinking for resale yellow might look better. Nate has taken off Monday and Tuesday for a mini stay-cation so he is going to paint those days. We also got a call that our furniture is in, so the room will be coming together soon! I will take the before, during and after pics so you can see Nate's progress. I also ended up ordering a glider/ottoman. I was trying to find a nice one on Craigslist, but I just do not have time to be checking that site all the time. There were a couple that where what I wanted, white with yellow cushions and seemed to be in pretty good shape. But both times someone else beat me to the punch. So now I ordered myself a white one with yellow cushions and don't have to look on Craigslist every 2 seconds to see if one has been posted. The funny thing is, there are tons of glider/ottomans on craigslist with dark wood that look nice and aren't even as pricey as the ones I wanted, and they are still listed. But the white ones, if they are nice go super quickly. Hopefully that means once I am done with ours I can put it up on Craigslist and get a decent amount for it :-)

This weekend we don't really have any plans. With no family close we don't have anyone to cook us a nice dinner and everyone knows that I don't cook! Today though, Erin and Shelby are coming down and we are going to lunch to catch up. These are friends from high school that both live up in Woodstock. Erin is pregnant also right now with her 2nd, she just found out a week ago that she is also having a girl. So right now, there are 6 of us having girls. My friend Heather is the last one to find out, I think next week. At this point, I am expecting it to be a girl just because that seems to be what everyone is having, but she thinks it is a boy. We will see!!!

Have a Happy Easter!

It's a dogs life...

After a long day of doing nothing, Spencer joins me on the couch for some R&R. I want his life!
