Goofy girl

I can't remember when, but I know Emersen "found" her tongue a few months ago. I am not sure if she has rediscovered it, but lately she is always sticking her tongue out at us. I know at some point we will have to teach her that it's not nice, but for now we will just take pics and let her look goofy.

Where has Januay gone?

It's hard to believe that we are almost in February, and I am hoping the second month of 2010 will be healthier for the Mansfield family. Between me, Emersen and Nate, we have each taken a turn being sick at some point this month. Two Monday's ago I took Emersen to the pediatrician because she had this nasty cough and I wanted to make sure it didn't get any worse. Found out not only did she have bronchitis, but a double ear infection. She is now done with her medicine, but still has a cough that seems to wake her up every night. I don't think we have gotten this little sleep in a long time!

On Sunday it was Emersen's 7 month birthday. Every day she seems to be getting closer and closer to crawling forward. So far she has only mastered crawling backwards which only seems to get her wedged under furniture or corners. Another milestone, if we can call it that, is that she is out of her little carrier car seat and into a larger one that they call a convertible car seat. She is still facing backwards for the time being, but this one stays in the car. For me it is a good thing, in the old car seat, it weighed around 15lbs and she weights probably around 20 lbs now, and I could barely carry it with her in it.

Here are some pics from last weekend...

So far this year...

In the past week Emersen had pink eye and I have a cold which can't make up it's mind. One day it's in my head and the next it's in my throat. Atlanta has also been experiencing some really cold weather. I think all week the highs have been in the 30's and the lows in the upper teens. Thursday evening we even got a little bit of snow which turned to ice by Friday morning. I managed to get the truck stuck in the alley when I tried to pull out, thankfully Nate can drive better on ice than I can and was able to get me back into the garage.

Emersen officially has 1 tooth, and the 2nd isn't far behind. They are both lower teeth right in the middle. She hasn't seemed to fussy with them coming in, or maybe we just can't tell the difference between her normal fussiness and teething fussiness. She is also a master sitter now, as you can probably tell from the pictures. She is also super close to crawling. She is able to pull herself up on her arms and she just figured out how her legs need to be, but she hasn't put the motion part of it together yet. She does manage to scoot backwards when she is on her knees, but not forward yet.

With her figuring all this out, she has also started to pull herself up in the pack and play and her crib, so we have lowered both mattress, so when she figures out how to pull up on her legs and not just her knees she won't flip out. At some point to we are going to start baby-proofing, which we are not looking forward to!

One last bit of news, we found out this week Aaron and Jessica (bro and sis-in-law) are going to be having a girl and Ralph and Karen (good friends) are going to be having a boy! Both are due at the end of May. Here are some pictures I took today since it is too cold to go outside.

Emersen's 1st Christmas

I am a little behind, but I wanted to get up some pics from Christmas. This year Emersen seemed to like the paper a little more than the presents themselves. Also Christmas Eve was Emersen's 6 month birthday when she went swimming for the first time. Check out the video below for her first reactions. We hope everyone had as wonderful Christmas as we did!

Welcome to the family Oliver!

While we were down in Ft. Myers we got to meet the newest member of the Lee family, Oliver. He is a dachshund, aka weenie dog. He is 7 months old, full of energy and as cute as can be. All of us, except Spencer, fell in love with him immediately.
