Today we had Emersen's 9 month appointment. No shots until 12 months, just a pinprick to draw some blood. Her growth has finally slowed down a little bit based on these numbers. She only put on 1 pound 11 ounces, and grew an inch since her 6 month appointment.

Weight: 20.11 lbs (75-90%)
Head Circumference: 45.5 cm (75-90%)

9 months
This past week we hit the 9 month mark, and it's hard to believe in 3 months my baby will be one year old! She is so active now, I can't even remember the days when we could sit or lay her down and she would stay there until she would cry and we would go pick her up. Right now we have her 3rd and possibly 4th teeth that are coming in right on the top center, which make me really sad. Once these 2 come in her gummy smile will be forever gone.
Life otherwise has calmed down, Nate went back to the doctor this week just to check his numbers and they have gone down, but they want him to go to a kidney specialist just to make sure they were not affected by the rhabdo. I told Nate he needed this to happen in a few years when the government would have paid for it instead of us :)

The Worst Week Ever
That seems like a pretty harsh title. And so far this year we have had quite a few weeks that sucked big time. But I do have to say this week was the worst of them.
The week started off like any other, Emersen at school while Nate and I were busy working for "the man". After lunch on Monday is when my day took a turn for the worst. Sparing everyone the details, I left around 2:30 feeling really really bad. I got home and went right to bed. At this point Nate was still feeling ok and was able to pick Emersen up at school and take care of her until she went to bed. At around 9pm, Nate started feeling what I had about 9 hours earlier. It was a looong night for both of us, though much longer for Nate. At around 8am I was able to get enough energy to get up, feed Emersen, get her dressed and take her to school as quick as I could. Around noon I finally started feeling human again and was able to eat some toast and keep it down. Nate on the other hand was still doing pretty rough. By that night he was finally able to eat some crackers, but had started feeling like he might have a cold or something. At this point we are not sure if we had food poisoning or a stomach bug, but whatever it was, was not fun!
The next day I went back to work and Nate stayed home still not feeling well. Later that afternoon he decided to go to the doctor (i know, shocker!) just to get some type of medication to make him feel better. The doctor was not able to find anything wrong with him, but while he was pressing on him noticed that when he pressed on Nate's back it really hurt. With that they wanted to test his urine, and when they did thought they saw blood in it. The physician's office was not able to do testing on site and wanted him to go to the ER so they could do some more testing to see if he had kidney stones. As with any ER visit, it took forever but finally 7 hours later Nate learned that they wanted him to stay over night so they could keep him hooked up to an IV. At that point the hospital didn't have any rooms available, so he was in the ER all night and part of the next day. Finally after lunch they had a room open up and he got a comfier bed. He learned that he had Rhabdomyolysis. His body had kind of like a perfect storm in order to get this. It started off Monday morning he went to the gym, it had only been the 4th time in many, many months. Then with the stomach thing and not be able to eat or drink for over 24 hours it started to break down his muscle tissue, which landed him at Piedmont. Poor guy ended up being there for 2 days, which for only an hour I was able to visit. Didn't want Emersen to be exposed to more germs! He has been home since Friday afternoon. This weekend we laid pretty low only running some errands and meeting the Sengbusch's for dinner on Saturday. The Rhabdo is still in his blood and has a follow-up appointment with the doctor tomorrow, but is feeling much better.
But we appreciate everyones offers to help and know what a great support system of friends we have here that is key when there is not any family close by! We will keep you posted on what Nate finds out tomorrow.

Sunday Playdate
This past Sunday us and the Ledoms went over to the Bazins for a playdate for the girls, lunch for the adults and yummy homemade rum cake for Mama Ada's birthday. Seeing the girls "play" together was so much fun. At this point they are all sitting on their own and crawling all over each other. At the end of the day we set them up in the same order as the picture we took only six and a half months ago. Hard to believe how much our sweet little girls have grown!

A few weeks round-up
I am a bad blogger, not keeping everyone updated on our princess' life. But these days she, work, life keep me pretty busy. She is currently 8 months and 3 weeks old and I still need to take her 8 month photos. At this point, we might just be waiting until her 9th month comes around.
Emersen is at a really fun stage for us right now, with her sweet little laugh, crawling around the house, imitating things that we do, getting ready to take her first steps...we love it all. Don't get me wrong, she is no angel, but the good times way out number the bad and we are enjoying every minute we have.
So the pictures below are a few that I have taken the last few weeks. With her crawling she is exploring the house and finding new and interesting things, like the dog food. We also were able to get grandma and grandpa Lee up to Atlanta in the winter. While they were here we went to the new Coca Cola factory downtown. It was a fun weekend, and we were sad when it was time for them to leave.
