Weekend Visit

This past weekend my mom and Nikki came into town to visit us. They got here Thursday evening and left Monday morning. Friday we took E to school and went to a couple of local exhibits that were not "kid friendly" and later on went out to dinner. Then on Saturday we went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. I can't believe it has taken me 10+ years to get to this place, it is so pretty. Next spring, when all the flowers are blooming I will definitely be going again. Then on Sunday we just hung out at the house and played with E. Bob also stopped by on Sunday for a few hours on his way to Montgomery. He is coming back to stay the night on Wednesday before his flight on Thursday.

Emersen did pretty well with grandma and aunt Nikki. If Nate and I were around she would still not willingly go to them or want to be held. But Saturday afternoon they spent some time playing in E's room and playing dress up while Nate and I were downstairs. I know I keep saying this, but hopefully in a few months she will be completely out of this phase.

This weekend we don't have any big plans. College football starts (YEAH!) and Nate has a home game. There have been talks about going to White Water one last time this summer on Sunday if the weather is nice. Then Monday doing some shopping and errands. Here are some pictures from this weekend.

Weekend Trade-Off

Last Friday Nate and I had our 5 year anniversary. Hard to believe that it was 5 years ago that we were in Vegas having the time of our lives with our closest friends and family. We had wanted to get away somewhere, but with the Pharr Road issue we have postponed it until next year once we can get that place rebuilt and sold. Matt and April were nice enough to watch Emersen for the evening while we tried a new (to us) placed called Wisteria in Inman Park. I tried shrimp and grits for the first time ever, and yes I have lived in GA for over 10 years now. I had only one experience with grits prior to this, I think at Waffle House and never wanted to eat them again, but our server was nice enough to let me try some before I ordered the meal and this place's was nothing like what I had at Waffle House, they were so good.

When we got back to the Ledom's both girls were asleep in Madalyn's bed, which we had to get some pictures of. I had always thought if E wasn't in a crib she would never go to sleep, but Matt and April said she went right down and they didn't have any issues.

The trade-off was on Friday night we watched Maddy while Matt and April went out. Both girls were really good, but with two of them it keeps you really busy. Got a taste of what parents with twins deal with every night. One at a time works for me, thank you :)
The rest of the weekend was pretty busy. On Saturday Nate had a Product Manager Camp that he went to, so April and I spent the day down at Atlantic Station and took the girls shopping and had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. Then on Sunday it was daddy/daughter day with Nate, Emersen, Matt and Maddy. I am not even sure where they all went, but they were gone long enough for me to clean the house, meet April for lunch, go to the mall and grocery shopping. When they got home and finished swimming E was exhausted and went to bed earlier than she usually does. This weekend my moma and Nikki are coming up to visit, so I am just trying to make it to Thursday with just E and I as Nate is in San Francisco for work.

Little Piggy

I am not sure when exactly Emersen eating really started grossing us out, but we are in the peak of it right now. We are in-between the phase of being fed and using utensils which consists of picking up as much as she can in her little palm and smashing it into her face. Usually a couple of pieces make it into her mouth, but most of it falls onto her bib or into the seat. And if she doesn't want or like it, she throws it over the side.

The only one who does enjoy this disgusting display of eating is doodle. He is reaping the benefits of everything that is dropped or missed her mouth. We are going to have to start cutting him off through, his stomach can't handle our food very well.

I have been wanting to video her eating so one day I can show her how gross it was, so I thought I would share with everyone else as well. This one isn't too bad, it's more messy than gross. Enjoy!

What to get into today?

Emersen is at a very curious age. She is also realizing that with her little body she can maneuver it to get her where she wants to be. Right now she is all about climbing things to see what is above her eye level. It started with the oven, then the coffee table and end tables, and also the fridge. Curious or just being troublesome? I think it is a little bit of both at this point, but we have told her "no" on each of them and she keeps going back and doing it, testing us.

Right now she has 4 new teeth coming in. With her first 6 she didn't seem to have any issues when they came in, except extra drooling. But these new ones seem to be bothering her a lot more, she has been extra whiny since we noticed them. So she has been getting a couple of doses of motrin everyday to help her with the pain.

Yesterday we went to White Water for the first time with the Sengbusch's and the Ledom's. It was actually the first time that I have been to a water park in I don't even remember how many years, maybe 15-20. They had a great little area for kids which we spent a lot of time in. We also did quite a few laps around the park in the lazy river. All the kids seemed to have a blast, Emersen didn't even make it a minute in the car on the way home before she passed out.

Other than that, not much going on, just trying to stay cool. We have been 90+ for weeks now with a heat index of over 100. The pool in our complex is more like a hot tub and not refreshing at all! But E still loves to go swimming, so we try to go at least once a weekend. Nate and I are keeping busy chasing around E and working. Nate is going to Pittsburgh this week for work, so it will be me and E for a few days. Makes a busy week even busier!

So bad! Crawling in the dish washer.

Who needs all those toys when there is appliances to play in?
