Stats at 15 months

Yesterday we had Emersen's 15 month well baby appointment. She is big healthy girl, just has to get the nurse practitioner to confirm it. She also got 3 shots, 2 were part of her scheduled shots and then we got her flu shot. She handled them pretty good until the 3rd one, the flu shot, where she lost it. It must have been a doozey though, she now has a little purple and blue bruise where it went in.

When the time is right

Emersen turns 15 months tomorrow. She is doing everything that she should be, walking, talking, playing, throwing tantrums... :-) But there is still 2 things from her baby life that we have not stopped doing yet. I know every kid is different and every parent is different on when they do things, but according to what I read online is that by this age she should not be drinking out of a bottle or have a binky anymore, which we are guilty of both.

Before I had her, or maybe even before we got to her 1st birthday I was completely planning on taking both of these away, but her birthday came and went and every day she still has her morning and night bottle. She drinks out of cups all day, it is just these 2 that I can't get rid of yet. Am I holding on to my baby? Probably. Getting rid of bottles completely means I don't have a baby any more. Every month I say to myself, lets try this month. Then next thing I know we are at the next month. Then I try to think which would be the easiest to get rid of first? I flip flop between morning and night, still no decision on that one. Most times I think night, but then I remember it is part of her routine. The same routine we have had since she was 3 months old. Bath, bottle, bed. So here I am on the eve of her turning 15 months telling myself that maybe it will be this month.

The binky I am not as worried about. She doesn't seem to be "addicted" to it. Other than giving it to her before bed, we only give it to her to hush her up. Good parenting 101 right here!

Is It Fall Yet?

I don't think we are ever going to get past these 90 degree days. I heard on the news yesterday that we have had more 90 degree days this September than we have any September in the past 10 years combined. My favorite time of year in Atlanta is the fall with the cooler temperatures, but not too cool, and the falling leaves. At this rate I think we are just going to go straight into winter from summer.

This weekend we finally have everyone healthy, though Emersen has a picked up a nasty cough and runnier nose than usual, maybe winter is on its way. Saturday Nate and Emersen went over to a friends house to watch the GT game. While watching the game Nate swears that Emersen said "Go Jackets" and has even got a few other people believing that she said it. I find it hard to believe that she all of a sudden said 2 full words that so far she hasn't even really pronounced those letter yet. To date, her only words are mamamama, dadaddadada and uh oh. So far I have yet to hear her repeat this, and if she is going to say something, I would think "Go Noles" would be first.

While Nate and E were spending the day over at friends, I got a much needed day out and about with April and then later on a few of us girls went to dinner sans kiddos and husbands. Today we did our usual errands and that type of fun stuff. Later in the afternoon we took a family trip out to the park to let Spencer and Emersen get some lead out. This week Nate is out of town Monday and Tuesday. Tomorrow night I am baby sitting Maddy for a little bit while Matt and April go out to a business dinner. Me and two toddlers, I am going to sleep well tomorrow night.

Time to baby proof...again.

A few months ago when we had all the gates up, outlets covered, cabinets locked, and anything breakable out of reach on tables we thought we were done baby proofing. Last night we learned we are not. Emersen is finally tall enough to reach door handles and pull them down to open them up. So far the only one she wants to get into is the pantry, but when she does the first thing she goes for is her nilla wafers or Cheerios.

So now today one of the stops will be babies r us to get us some door locks. I wish we could have gotten a video of when she did it for the first time last night. She was so proud of herself when it worked. But I managed to get her again this morning.

Bad Football Day

It was a bad day of football here today at the Mansfield house, but we had two very cute girls sporting gear for their favorite teams.

Labor Day Weekend

We had big, fun plans this weekend, but someone, who's name I will not give, but not Nate, I or doodle, got some kind of tummy bug which has resulted in more diaper changes in 3 days that I can ever remember in the last 14 months, multiple loads of laundry, a car seat that had to be completely taken apart and scrubbed down, rolling up the area rug on the main floor to give a tooshy some fresh air, and a gnarly diaper rash as a result from all the diaper changes. I am not sure who all this has been harder on, E or us, but this "experience" has been not been much fun.

We did manage to have a little bit of fun, Saturday morning we all went down to the Tech campus to do some tailgating for the 1st home game if the season. There were 3 other babies down there as well, Katelin, Logan and John Michael. None are at the age where they play with each other yet, but they did enjoy climbing all over corn hole together. Nate went to the game, while E and I ran some errands. The next 2 days we have stayed pretty close to home, but did manage to go to the park both days to let E get some lead out.

Right now we are trying to keep Emersen on the BRAT diet and giving her probiotics, but so far it is not helping much. We are going to keep her home from school tomorrow and give the ped a call. She is still eating pretty good and no fever, so hopefully this is just a bug which will find its way out soon! But we will keep everyone posted.
