This time of year is always so busy and this blog can prove it. So without making this a novel I will give a quick breakdown of everything that has been going on since the last post. The weekend before Thanksgiving us and the Ledom's had a double date night. One of April's co-workers offered to watch both girls for us, which the 3 of them had a blast. Emersen cried a little bit, but then forgot all about us within 5 minutes. While the girls played, us adults went to an awesome Mexican restaurant, Rosa Mexicana, which has table side guacamole (need I say more). While we were there we had food network star, Alton Brown, at the table right next to us with his family. After dinner we went to the Cirque du Soleil show, OVO, which is in Atlanta right now. This is, I think, the 5th Cirque show I have seen and they never cease to amaze me. Always well worth the cost!
The next couple days flew by and next thing we knew it was time to head down to Ft Myers for Thanksgiving. We decided to fly this year, so poor Spencer was boarded and didn't get his one big trip of the year. We had a great time down in Florida and could not ask for better weather. There are not many times that I miss Florida except this time of year. Are we old enough to be snow birds yet? So while we were down there my parents heated up the pool since we knew there was no way we were going to be able to keep Emersen out of it. We swam every day, and on Friday we got her a life vest to see if she could swim by herself with it own. She not only was able to keep herself vertical with it on, she got her legs and arms moving and was swimming all over the pool. It was really amazing to see her pick it up so fast and she loved it. Before we had the vest and we were holding on to her she would be thrashing around everywhere and difficult to hold. But once she had that freedom to not be contained, she was off and swimming. As with any trip, it went by way to quickly and the next thing we knew it was Monday and time to get home. We had a terrible day getting home with cancelled flights, over booked flights, etc. But we finally got to our house at about midnight, completely exhausted and dreading work the next day.
The next weekend I was determined to do 2 things. First clean the house and second put up Christmas decorations. I knew if I didn't get up my Christmas decorations that weekend, they would not be going up this year. So pretty much all weekend Nate and Emersen were on their own and I had my two goals to complete. I did take a break Saturday afternoon and night while the Ledom's came over and watched the SEC and ACC championships. By the way, the Noles won and Nate and I are going to the Chic-fil-a bowl here in Atlanta on New Years Eve. The Harrison's have graciously agreed to watch Emersen for us that night. Woo hoo!
So on to this weekend, Emersen is battling a cold right now. I really hate this time of year with the non-stop running nose and coughing! Yesterday I had my girls pottery painting party, which we will see how well my creative skills are next weekend when I pick up what I painted. Then last night we used our babysitter for the first time. This poor girl, not only at the Mansfield house does she have to watch the kid, she also has to be on her toes to make sure the dog doesn't bite her. Before we left Spencer kept attacking her feet, thankfully she had thick boots on. Then as we were leaving all we hear is Emersen crying and Spencer howling. Seriously, poor girl! Nate and I went over to Decatur and tried a new to us restaurant, Iberian Pig, which is a Spanish restaurant. We went went with tapas so we could try a bunch of different things. Everything was so good, though I think we had 1 tapas too many. I was so full that we went over to Brickstore Pub to have another drink and I couldn't even finish it. But we got home and everything was fine, Spencer was even on the couch with her. Stupid dog.
Today in Atlanta we might be getting some snow. It is supposed to be really really really cold this week. Like I said, times like this I wish we lived in Florida. Nate is on his second week of traveling. Last week he was in San Francisco for a few days and this week is up in Pittsburgh. So once again it is me, E and doodle. I didn't take a lot of pictures, but here are some from over Thanksgiving.
